Temporary Suspension of Kresge Library's MeLCat participation

Effective today, we are suspending Kresge Library’s participation in MeLCat for a period of 3 to 4 months.

MeLCat is the state-wide resource sharing service for libraries and has allowed Kresge Library patrons to request books from other participating state libraries. The books that have been requested by Kresge patrons range from reference books at MSU to cookbooks from the Capital Area District Library in Lansing. Additionally, patrons from across the state have been able to request books from our collection.

The reason that we have to suspend our participation is because we were unable to upgrade our library catalog software last summer. We are migrating to a new server after the Winter Term. Once that is in place, we will be able to reactivate the service and fully intend to do so.

While we will not be able to provide the service at Kresge, you will be able to request items through your local public library, including Ann Arbor District, Ypsilanti District, Saline District, Canton Public, and Plymouth District. The full list of participating libraries may be found here:

Members of the University community may also use the University Library System’s Inter-Library Loan service ( until MeLCat services at Kresge are resumed.

If you have any questions about this service or need help finding any information resource, be it a book, article, chapter, dissertation, etc., please do not hesitate to contact us at the Kresge Library. You may use our contact form (, email us at or even write to me directly at

We apologize for the short notice for this service interruption, but will work diligently to ensure that we meet all of your information resources needs.
