Year End Kresge Library Information for Ross Students and New Graduates (Alumni Services)
Hello Ross Students:
With the arrival two weeks ago of the tulips on campus, it is hard to believe that we are just now ending Winter Term and wrapping up another academic year here in Ann Arbor.
On behalf of the staff at the Kresge Library, I wanted to extend our heartiest congratulations on finishing the school year, especially the MBA1s who are finishing up MAP. If you are graduating, please accept our most sincere congratulations and best wishes on your future success.
Please allow me to share information about library services over the summer and those that will be available to Ross graduates through Kresge.
Before you leave Ann Arbor:
Please consider participating in Kresge’s 2nd annual springtime food drive. Why lug those cans of soup and boxes of pasta off to your home when we can put them to great use in Washtenaw County. You can drop off non-perishable food items right at the Library’s Circulation Desk on the second floor. We are collecting items through June 1st. For more information, please visit: http://mblog.lib.umich.edu/kresgenews/archives/2012/02/announcing_kres.html
Picture of last year's food drive:
Also, if we did a good job at Kresge Library during your time here at Ross, please consider ‘signing our wall’ in Kresge's administration offices on the 3rd floor. Think of it like backstage at a musical venue. Someone might be able to point to your name in the future and marvel that ‘we knew you when.’
This is the wall - it would look better with your name on it!
Also, it is a good time to make sure that you have returned any books that you have checked out. Also, please check Kresge’s Lost and Found (at the Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor) if you lost something in the library this term.
News for Current and Returning Students
Kresge Library Hours for Spring & Summer Terms:
As a reminder, we will be closed on Sundays from now until the beginning of Fall Term. During the summer, we are typically open 8am-8pm (Monday – Friday) and 10am-6pm on Saturdays. To see our library hours – including specific changes for exams and holidays, please visit:
Reference Assistance during Spring & Summer Terms:
Please remember that we are very happy to help you this summer on whatever your information needs might be. If you need assistance over the summer, we are but an email or IM chat session away. You can contact us via email to email@example.com or by using this webform: http://www.bus.umich.edu/kresgelibrary/contact.htm. We will have librarians available for walk-in visitors to the library and you can always make an appointment if you are working on a lengthier project. You may also use the IM chat client that is located right on the Kresge Library's home page: http://www.bus.umich.edu/KresgeLibrary.
News for Graduating Students
You will have access to your CTools sites for the near future. Most class sites are taken down two years after completion – though if you created a project, you should have it for as long as it is active.
Alumni Access to Select Kresge Library Databases:
As you may know, the Kresge Library offers Ross alumni free access to a select group of databases. We are the only school at The University of Michigan to offer alumni access to databases at no additional cost and this list is the gold standard among American business schools. New resources and changes will be highlighted in Michigan Mail, the Alumni Services web page at the Kresge Library site, and the Library News http://mblog.lib.umich.edu/kresgenews/
Access for the full suite of Kresge Resources will be available until your status changes (we expect this to take place in early July). At the point when you become alumni in our system, please follow the links to the resources through the Alumni Resources Page at: http://www.bus.umich.edu/Kresgelibrary/support/alumni.htm
Among the resources that are currently offered to alumni, you will find:
• Career resources (CareerSearch, Vault Online Career Library, WetFeet.com, etc.)
• Company and industry research tools (ORBIS, Business and Company Resource Center, Business Monitor Online, etc.)
• News sources (Business Source Premier: Alumni Edition (EBSCO), Factiva, etc.).
Please remember that these resources are provided to you for personal use only. Even when you are an alum, you can contact the library for help with these resources. Please contact the Kresge Library Reference Desk for assistance at 734.764.9464 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Once again, congratulations to all on the completion of the school year and have an enjoyable summer. If you have any questions about library services, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
Best wishes and Go Blue!
