Fax Machine No Longer Available at Kresge Library

The Kresge Library will no longer have fax machines for community use. This decision was made by the people who supported the fax machines. For information on locations near the Ross School of Business where you can fax a document or alternatives (such as scanning), please visit the Fax Services at University of Michigan section of our printing page on the Kresge Wiki.

Service Interruption, Part 2: A-Z Database Access and Library Catalog

Kresge Library will be performing the second part of a critical upgrade to our library server system in the afternoon on Thursday, May 12 starting a 1pm. Total system downtime is expected to be around 4 hours.

During this outage, access to Kresge Library resources (from either on campus or off) will not be available through the primary links on the Kresge website. Access to many of the library's databases will be available through the 'UM Users' link on the A-Z Database page.

For assistance with finding books, articles and other resources during this outage, please contact us via email at kresge_library@umich.edu or use the Chat with Kresge Library feature on our website.

Time to Create Your Active Directory Login

Having trouble logging into the computers or the wireless? Ross Computing Services changed some of the login parameters for the Wireless and logging into the computers at Kresge.

Students should now use their Active Directory password instead of their Kerberos password. This is the same password that is used for the new RossWirelessSecure network.

Business Information for Michigan Residents

On the Kresge Library Wiki, we created a page that highlights useful business resources available for Michigan Residents. Besides freely available news sites, this wiki page includes links to business and article databases from the Michigan Electronic Library, which are available to all residents of the state of Michigan.

Ask Us Live! IM Friday Hours Extended

The Friday hours for the library's Ask Us Live! IM reference service have been extended. Starting this Friday, February 1, 2008 the IM service will be available until 9pm.

Google Talk had been added to the library's Ask Us Live! IM reference service. Send an IM to 'kresgelibraryIM@gmail.com' in Google Talk.

The Ask Us Live! IM reference service is available:

Sunday-Thursday: 11am-1am
Friday-Saturday: 11am-7pm

Reference Desk Closing for End of Term

Starting Monday, December 17, the Reference Desk will be closed along with the IM service, Ask Us Live! A librarian is still available to assist with reference questions via email or in person by asking at the Circulation Desk:

On-Call Librarian Schedule:
Mon. 12/17 - Fri. 12/21: 9am-12pm and 1pm-5pm
Mon. 12/24: 9am-2pm.
Tue. 12/25 - Tue. 1/2: Library Closed
Wed. 1/2: 9am-12pm and 1pm-5pm
Thu. 1/3: Normal services and hour resume

Winter A Course Materials

Winter A Course Materials are now available for ordering through CTools. To find out if Course Materials are available for your Winter A Courses, login to CTools and check your winter classes sites. Ordering instructions are available there as well.

Course Materials will be available for pick up at the Circulation Desk. Check the Library hours to find out when you can pick up materials. The library will be open from on December 24th from 8am-2pm for those last minute pick ups.

Library Hours and Reference Service for the Winter Break

The Kresge Library is shifting into end of term and winter break mode. The library will close at 5pm on Friday 12/22 for the winter break and will reopen at 7:30am on Tuesday 1/2. The library hours for the remainder of the term are as follows:

Reference Services

During the week of 12/18-12/22 and on 1/2-1/3, the Reference Desk and the Kresge 'Ask Us Live' IM service will be closed. If you have a question during this time, you can send it via the Contact Us page. Librarians will be checking email daily and respond to your questions in a timely manner.

The Reference Desk and IM Reference service will reopen on Thursday, January 4th.

Have a fun and relaxing winter break! See you in January!

The following deadlines have been established for Winter 2007:

Course Materials due: Wednesday, November 1, 2006 (14-week and WinterA)
Submit Course Reserves by: Monday, December 4, 2006
Winter B Course Materials due: Monday, January 22, 2007.

MAP season has begun for all 1st year MBAs. Have you contacted your team librarian yet?

A Kresge librarian has been assigned to each team to assist with their research needs. Many teams find it helpful to schedule an introductory meeting with the librarian to learn about resources that will help in completing their project.

We understand that it's not always convenient to come in to the library or call when you have a question. We want to make sure you can get the answers you need, when you need them. Kresge Library is pleased to announce that Ask Us Live! instant messenger reference service now supports Yahoo!, MSN Messenger and AIM.
