Frost and Sullivans outage

To provide better service to our customers and users of frost.com, we have decided to relocate our website hosting, planned for this weekend, May 25th - 27th.Please note that Frost.com will be unavailable for the entire weekend, starting early Saturday morning through Monday morning, May 27th.We apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused during this move but hope this will provide better service for all of our frost.com users.

Announcing the First Annual Kresge Library-Gast Library Food Drive Competition! (April 1 to May 31, 2013)

For people here at the University of Michigan, beating Sparty never gets old. Whether it is on the football field, the basketball court, the baseball diamond, in case competitions, in job searches…it always feels great to one up our brethren school in East Lansing. This is the true nature of the great rivalry we share. This year, the business libraries at these two great schools are taking this competitive spirit and putting the rivalry to good use. We are starting a new tradition that will pit the students, staff and faculty at the two business schools to help out those less fortunate in our two communities.

For two months (April 1st through May 31st), the libraries will be leading competing food drives with their respective business schools. The William C. Gast Business Library will be collecting food for the MSU Food Bank. The Kresge Business Administration Library will be collecting for Saline Area Social Services and the Hope Clinic (Ypsilanti). This will be the third annual food drive for Kresge, but their first competition with another library. The libraries will be measuring the food donations in copy paper boxes. The winning library gets the all important bragging rights and a trophy (to be determined) that will move back and forth between the winning schools. The real winner will be the food banks that will be able to replenish their stocks at a time when donations are at their lowest.

During our food drives in 2011 and 2012, we collected over 50 boxes of food each year for Washtenaw County Food Banks. I know we can do better and hope the allure of beating Sparty will get the Ross Community motivated!

Dates: Monday April 1 through Friday May 31, 2013

We will have drop-off boxes in Kresge Library at the Circulation Desk on the second floor items from Monday April 1, 2013 through Friday May 31, 2013.

Per the guidelines established by many food banks, we ask you to make sure that the donated items are:
• Non-perishable food products
• Contained in factory-sealed containers
• Currently not expired products
• Not in glass containers (most food banks avoid these as they can break in transit)

Food Items in great need include:
• Tuna Fish or other canned fish or meat
• Beef Stew, Meat Soups
• Hearty Soups
• Canned Spaghetti or Pasta
• Chili
• Beans (kidney, pinto, green, yellow, refried or black beans)
• Baby Food or Formula
• Ensure or other nutritional supplement drinks
• Rice
• Dry Beans
• Noodles, Macaroni
• Powdered Milk
• Pancake or Baking Mixes
• Cereal/Oatmeal
• Granola Bars
• Peanut Butter
• Jelly (in plastic jars)

Many Food Banks also collect unopened personal products including:
• Diapers
• Toothpaste
• Toothbrushes
• Soap
• Shampoo
• Disposable Razors
• Travel sized personal products are also very useful

Economist Intelligence Unit Cancellation

As of tomorrow, March 30,2013, access to our subscription to the EIU (Economist Intelligence Unit) database will be discontinued. We have found that this move is necessary given limited resources and price increases that come with our continuing subscriptions.

2012 Kresge Library Annual Report Now Available

We are pleased to announce the availability of the 2012 Kresge Library Annual Report. This is the sixth report from Kresge and it showcases the activities and accomplishments of the amazing staff at the library. You can read about our reference interactions with students, faculty and staff; support for MAP and other action-based learning programs; scholarship produced by Kresge librarians; and programs such as our second annual food drive.

In addition, we have a special section where we showcase our work to support for the four pillars of the Ross School of Business’s Strategic Plan: (Positive, Boundaryless, Analytic and Action).

The accomplishments recorded in this annual report are possible through the hard work and dedication of the 21 staff and librarians at Kresge. We are also grateful to the work of our part-time student employees and supervisors that keep us running 109.5 hours a week during the Fall and Winter terms at Kresge.

EIU Cancellation

Kresge will be discontinuing our subscription to the EIU (Economist Intelligence Unit) at the end of March 2013.We have found that this move is necessary given limited resources and price increases that come with our continuing subscriptions. We have (and will continue to) explore all options to support the diverse research needs of the Ross faculty, students and staff with the financial resources that we have.

BCC Research Reports Now Available on the A-Z Database Page

BCC Research provides access to market research reports and market forecasting in advanced materials, biotechnology, chemicals, energy, healthcare, sensors, plastics, nanotechnology, and other emerging technologies. Over 250 research reports are published annually. BCC Research is available at Flint and Dearborn campuses also.

Archival Report Content Integrated into IBISWorld

IBISWorld, a provider of industry reports on over 700 industries, has recently integrated their archival report content into the main industry reports platform. Archival reports are available for all 700 industries, with many reports dating back to 2001.

The archival reports can be accessed via an industry report page using the books icon at the top of the page, or you can search the archival reports using the US Industry Archives page.

IBISWorld can be accessed from the Library's A-Z Database page.

WetFeet Interface and Access Change

We have just learned that WetFeet has undergone a change in their interface and the way that Ross Community members (current students and alumni) connect to the resource. You will now need to create an account on the site to download the guides and see the company information. You will need to log in each time you visit the site. Alternatively, you may also log in via facebook or LinkedIn. If you run into any problems creating an account, please contact the library and we will get right back to you.

Life Sciences Analytics is working again

We are happy to report that Life Sciences Analytics is working again. Please also be sure to visit the Medical and Biotech Resources Wiki page for additional resources on this topic.

Life Sciences Analytics is not currently available (12/03/2012 update)

We are currently experiencing problems with the Life Sciences Analytics database. All the links for the reports have been removed. We are working with the vendor and hope to have this resolved soon. Please visit the Medical and Biotech Resources Wiki page for additional resources on this topic. Some LSA reports are also available via ThomsonOne under company and industry Research. ThomsonOne is a Ross only resource.

Kresge Library to host Laptop Registration Program (December 3rd and 4th)

The Kresge Library is pleased to invite the University of Michigan’s Department of Public Safety (DPS) to the Ross School of Business to provide an in-person registration program for laptops and other electronic devices that you have. DPS offers a free Laptop, Personal Electronics and Bicycle Registration Program that is intended to “deter theft and avoid the consequences or assist in the recovery of stolen property.”

Representatives from the DPS will be available at the Kresge Library on Monday December 3rd and Tuesday December 4th from 1:30pm to 7:30pm (each day). They will be located near the entrance to Kresge on the 2nd floor. The process to register your laptop or electronic equipment takes only a minute or so to complete. Upon registering your laptop, personal electronics or even your bicycle, you'll receive two stickers to place on your device or bicycle. One sticker provides the DPS with tagging information to ensure that you will receive it back if it is recovered. The other sticker is a deterrent to let the would-be thief know that the product is registered in the primary database used by law enforcement in the United States and Canada. Additionally, if your property is found or recovered, the registration record will help DPS return your property to you.

We hope that this will help reduce the number of thefts that take place in public areas of the Ross School of Business and Kresge Library.

Additionally, it is good to know that we have a lost and found in the Kresge Library for a large number of items (ranging from travel mugs, to chargers, or personal electronics, etc.) that have been left at Kresge Library. If you are missing something that might have been left behind at Kresge, please stop by the Circulation Desk on the 2nd floor and ask. We might have had this the whole time!

Simmons OneView Now Available on the A-Z Database Page

Simmons OneView is now available via the Library's A-Z Database page. Ross users can access Simmons OneView from any computer with an internet connection. Simmons OneView provides data on the demographic, psychographic and media use characteristics of users of products, brands and services.

Audit Bureau of Circulations is Now Media Intelligence Center

The Audit Bureau of Circulations has had a name change and a face lift. The new site is called Media Intelligence Center and provides a better interface to access to periodical and newspaper circulation data for US and Canadian newspapers and periodical publications.
