New Deadline for Name Change

Hello again! In the original timeline for the name change process, one of the goals was to re-evaluate the timeline and the process itself. Having done so, the Office has decided to push back the deadline for the name change decision to February.

The primary reason for this decision is that we have yet to consult with an important constituency, that of our alumni. Their input is extremely relevant to us and will hopefully yield positive results.

Thanks to everyone for their patience in this process. In the meantime, we are still looking for more suggestions for Office's new name. So, if you got 'em, let's hear 'em!

Let the Ideas Flow!

Hi everyone! My name is Andrew McBride and I am a student intern here at the Office of LGBT Affairs. I am a 4th-year Women's Studies major who plans to go to graduate school next fall. I will be moderating this blog from now on, so feel free to say hi!

The question that I have for you today is what is on everyone's mind: what should the new name be? That's what I want to hear from you. I would like for you to comment with ideas for what the office's new name should eventually be. Here are some criteria that we are trying to follow:

-The new name should be inclusive of all identities and people without being watered down and superficial.

-The new name should be action-oriented.

-The new name should be easily recognizable. Anyone looking through a directory should be able to see it and determine what the office's purpose is.

-The new name should be professional, yet also welcoming to students.

So let the ideas flow! Please comment with your thoughts and opinions on what the new name should be.
