Promote Library Events using Flickr

We have many wonderful events and exhibits in the library (including this MLibrary2.0 series) that could easily be showcased on the library site using flickr & rss. Seems like all we need to do is set up a flickr group that any library staff could join, they could then add photos of their events to the group, and then using a flickr badge, images could be fed automatically via rss onto the library's news page (or another page designated for this). I'd be glad to set this up if anyone else is interested in sharing their event/exhibit photos on the library website.

That's a great idea. A lot of librarians are on flickr. I haven't taken any pictures of library events before, but 1) I have a new, little camera on the way and 2) I'd be more likely to take pictures if I have a place to share them.

Yea! So I've already set up a flickr group for this purpose if you feel like trying it out (anyone can join): ">http://flickr.com/groups/mlibrary2_0/">

UGL has an open house event for new students on September 2nd. We could take some pics during this event and post them here--great idea!

We're also thinking of having students participate in a 5 photo story contest during the open house.

That's a great idea! And I love the idea of a photo story contest. Keep us posted.

ooh fun. how would the photos be incorporated into the main website? what if i upload porno? :) just kidding. would the flickr group be user-generated, or would it just be us librarians?

either way, i'm game!
