An interesting debate has started to spring up on many gaming websites concerning expression of LGBT affiliation in online games. One of the world's most popular games, World of Warcraft, currently has over 5 million subscribers. Blizzard, the game's creator, recently stated an LGBT-friendly guild could not advertise their group because it would create harassment from other players, which would violate their sexual harassment policy.

In On-line games, the public chat channels are often filled with gay-bashing remarks. This has caused some players to come together in LGBT-friendly guilds so they can avoid these public chat channels and not have to worry about harassement.

Due to Blizzard's stance against LGBT-friendly guilds, they have been issued a Gay Rights Warning by Lambda Legal. More information can be found here.
