MLA Scholarship for Minority Students
Application – Deadline Dec. 1
The Medical Library Association (MLA) Scholarship for Minority Students Jury announces the acceptance of applications for the 2009- 2010 MLA Minority Scholarship. The scholarship of up to $5000 will be granted to a minority student entering an ALA-accredited library school, or with at least one-half of the requirements of the library school program to finish when the award is granted in February 2010.
The second runner up for the MLA Minority Scholarship will receive a $1,000 scholarship to attend MLA '10, May 21-26 in Washington, D.C. The winners will be notified in late February 2010.
African-American, Hispanic, Asian, Pacific Islander, or Native American students who plan to study health sciences librarianship are eligible. Each applicant must submit an application packet which includes an application, essay, and letters of reference. Further information and an application can be accessed here.

Dolores Zohrab Liebmann Fund Fellowship
The Liebmann Fund has announced the 2010-2011 competition. The trust will accept up to three(3)nominations from the
University of Michigan. The fellowship provides a stipend of $18,000, full tuition for fall and winter, and health and dental benefits.
The fellowship is renewable for up to two(2) additional years. It is open to students pursuing a graduate degree in the humanities, social
sciences or natural sciences (including law, medicine, engineering, architecture, or other formal professional training).
Nominees must have an outstanding undergraduate record, demonstrate a need for financial assistance, and be a citizen
of the US. The fellowship awards those nominees with outstanding character and ability, who hold promise for achievement
and distinction in their chosen fields of study.
Those who would be eligible for consideration must carry out their education and research entirely in the US.
The application is quite involved, so we encourage applicants to begin the process as soon as possible. The deadline for
completed applications to be sent to the Fellowships Office at Rackham, is Thursday, January 7, 2010 The award decisions
of the Liebmann Trustees will be announced in May 2010.
Copies of the application and guidelines are attached, or may be picked up at Rackham at the Rackham Student Services reception desk.
The completed application, with one original and four copies(including official transcripts and recommendations) must be removed
from their envelopes, copied and placed in the complete packets as complete sets. One original transcript and copies are acceptable.
All applications must be returned to the Rackham Fellowships Office for final approval and for the Rackham Dean’s letter of recommendation.

Award Description
The NSF expects to award 1,654 Graduate Research Fellowships under this program solicitation pending availability of funds.
For each matriculated Fellow, the affiliated institution receives a $40,500 award per Fellow tenure year to cover the costs described below. Fellows Abroad receive direct NSF grant awards up to the same amount per year on tenure. The Graduate Research Fellowship stipend currently is $30,000 for a 12-month tenure period, prorated monthly at $2,500 for shorter periods as approved by NSF.
