UM Math Professor Awarded National Medal of Science
University of Michigan mathematics professor Hyman Bass will be presented with the National Medal of Science, the nation's top honor for scientific achivement, at a ceremony at the White House today. Bass is the first UM professor to win the award since 1986, and is being honored both for his contributions to mathematical theory and for his influence on the field of mathematics education. UM LibX Toolbar Now Available for Firefox
A UM version of the LibX browser tool is now available for downloading on the UM Library Betas page. LibX integrates with Firefox to provide an easy interface for searching UM's library resources, as well as embedded links in Web pages (Amazon, Google, New York Times Book Review, and others) to search Mirlyn for resources listed on that page. LibX works with Windows, Linux, or Macintosh systems, but only works with the Firefox browser. For more information, or to install the LibX toolbar, visit the Library's LibX page.
