UM Math Professor Awarded National Medal of Science
University of Michigan mathematics professor Hyman Bass will be presented with the National Medal of Science, the nation's top honor for scientific achivement, at a ceremony at the White House today. Bass is the first UM professor to win the award since 1986, and is being honored both for his contributions to mathematical theory and for his influence on the field of mathematics education.
