Print On Demand from MLibrary

Textbook prices got you down? The library provides a Print On Demand option for tens of thousands of books at very reasonable prices. We've partnered with publishers and suppliers to bring you access to rare and out-of-print works, as well as modern texts. Some can be printed right here in the library using our Espresso Book Machine!

New Science Reference Ebooks

The Science Library has recently purchasesd a number of major reference works and handbooks in electronic format. Although many are books we already own in print, you can now download individual book chapters from the convenience of your computer. For more new books see our Science Library New Books page.

Welcome Students, Faculty and Researchers!

The Shapiro Science Library welcomes you to the start of a new academic year. Our print and online collections and our staff are here to support your work.

The Science Library has over 400,000 print volumes and subscribes to over 2000 journals; use Mirlyn to find them and to access electronic items. We subscribe to many online databases, which enable you to search for journal articles; access these via Search Tools.

Our reference desk is open Monday-Friday 10AM-5PM for drop in assistance. Students can schedule research consultations and subject specialist librarians offer expert assistance. We also offer instruction sessions for classes. And the UM libraries offer a wide variety of workshops, including the Digital Dissertation series for graduate students and other sessions tailored for faculty.
