Staff Member Introductions
Introduction - Donna Hayward
My official title is Information Studies Librarian, but I'm sometimes known as the SI Librarian. My mission is to spread the word about library services and resources, and help SI students, faculty and staff to use those resources in the most effective and efficient ways.
Some other activities I'm engaged in at any given moment include, management of the Information and Reference Center, coordination of the Internship Program, management of Information Studies and Juvenile Literature collections, and hiring, training and supervision of reference student assistants and ULAs.
Introduction to Josh Morse
Greetings!
I am currently a second year student at SI specializing in HCI. I am also the ULA (University Library Associate) for the KNC (Knowledge Navigation Center). Acronyms aside, my major tasks as a ULA include helping patrons with software questions in the KNC, teaching workshops in the Faculty Exploratory, working at the reference desk, and working on projects like SEGSI.
I've always liked working with both technology and people, and my studies SI and my position at the Grad Library allows me to do both. I have a background in computer science, so I am happy to answer any technical questions. I'm also a Michigan native, so let me know if you need any good spots for a weekend trip. In my spare time, I like to play board games, read, bike, and work on various web design projects.
Introduction to Rafia Mirza
Hi!
I am a second year student at SI specializing in LIS, and I am the Public Services ULA (University Library Associate) at Hatcher Graduate Library. This means I spend a lot of time at the library, mostly at the Information and Reference Center. My background is in the humanities (English, Psychology, American Studies) and my eventual goal is to be an academic librarian/subject specialist. In my spare time I spend way too much time on Facebook, reading, and watching TV/movies. I am also the social coordinator for the student chapter of ALA@SI.
Introduction to Eric Frierson
Hello, SI.
My name is Eric, and I'm a librarian at the Graduate Library. My primary responsibilities there are the management of the Knowledge Navigation Center and the Faculty Exploratory student staff, teaching classes on technology topics, and being the liaison to the Communication Studies department.
I'll be teaching a few tech-related workshops for you as part of the SEGSI support series. While I may not be the SEGSI-est librarian around, I'm happy to answer any questions you might have about SI (I'm a recent alumn), teaching in libraries, or technology.
Introuduction to Joel Adams
Hi! My name is Joel and I am a first year MSI student. Before moving to Ann Arbor, I completed too much graduate work in the humanities at the University of Florida. At the Hatcher, I'm excitedly serving as one of the ULAs for public services. Additionally, I also work with UofM's LGBT Affairs office. I'm a collection junkie and most of my books are finally up on library-thing. My home website is http://www.contog.net. I look forward to meeting and working with you all!
You can email all of us at once by using the SEGSI Staff email.

Buying Microsoft Office

You can get MS Office 2007 for under $50 with your student discount at the Computer Showcase - make sure you bring your student ID! This is an excellent price, as the full version of Microsoft Office usually retails for $500+.
Microsoft Office 2007 Enterprise for Windows includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Communicator, Access, Groove, InfoPath, OneNote, and Publisher. It costs $47.17.
Microsoft Office 2004 Professional for Mac OS X includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Entourage, and Virtual PC. It costs $42.45.
