Internet User Experience Conference 2011

The Michigan CHI and Michigan UPA host the seventh annual IUE conference featuring top industry speakers on Web site design and strategy.

The Michigan CHI (MICHICHI) and Michigan Usability Professionals’ Association (MI UPA) will host the seventh annual Internet User Experience Conference (IUE2011) in Ann Arbor, Michigan October 10-13.

The conference promotes user experience design, graphics, branding, messaging, social networking, accessibility, and effective web writing to enhance customers’ experience. Top industry speakers, practitioners, and authors will present information about Internet user experience design using training, case studies, and real-world examples.

This conference grows every year and has captured international attention. The Michigan CHI urges interested individuals to come and participate as world-renowned speakers and trainers cover aspects of Web site design and strategy, including usability, marketing, branding, social networking, accessibility, and more. Tutorials will be offered on creating storyboards, personas, designing for mobile, web analytics, and more.

The IUE attracts a wide spectrum of professionals working in usability, Web development, visual design, marketing, advertising, and sales. Conference sponsors include UsableWorld, LLC, Usable Development, Clear Usability, the Michigan UPA, and Washtenaw Community College Internet Professional Program.

Registration is now open, and early registrants (by September 10th) will save $100 on the regular registration rate AND also receive a copy of Dr. Susan Weinschenk’s new book, “100 Things Every Designer Needs To Know About People”

UM Diplomat in Residence for 2011-12

If you are interested in a career with the United States Department of State, or other foreign of civil service careers or internships, the University of Michigan has a resource for you to utilize.

The Ford School is pleased to welcome Jim Ellickson-Brown as a Diplomat in Residence (DIR) for the 2011-12 academic year. More info on his background is available at http://www.fordschool.umich.edu/news/?news_id=587.

The DIR is a resource for all UM students considering foreign and civil service careers, internships, and fellowship opportunities.
