Tim O'Reilly's Safari service is an interesting model.

I'm curious to know whether O'Reilly has tried to do any analysis of Safari page views by users known to own a print copy of a given work. Just how they might do that, I don't know, but I can well imagine the online version being used as a complement to the print or vice versa. The reader can choose the technology according to the need.
