UM solar car team looking for statisticians
The solar car team needs statisticians, contact Alex if you are interested.
Dear Statistics Students,
I would like to take a few minutes to introduce you to one of the largest, most successful student groups on campus: the University of Michigan Solar Car Team. Every two years our team designs, finances, builds and races a solar-powered vehicle across North American and Australia. This last July our team won the North American Solar Challenge - our fifth National Championship. For our latest project, Infinium, we hope to take Michigan Solar Car to the next level, winning our team's first World Championship in an 1800-mile race across Australia. With a team of the University's brightest and most devoted students, Project Infinium will prove Michigan's place as the Leaders and Best.
The racing portion of the project is rather competitive and as a result we have team members dedicated to developing a comprehensive race strategy from day one. The current Michigan strategy is heavily depended on an understanding of the vehicle's physics and an ability to predict the vehicle's performance. Currently, our team uses a significant amount of testing to characterize the vehicle's performance. We are currently looking for statistics students in particular to help with experimental design and data analysis.
I encourage you to come to one of our two mass meetings to learn more about the team and how you can immediately become involved with the project. Both mass meetings will cover identical content, with one on Central Campus and one on North Campus.
Central Campus Mass Meeting
Tuesday, September 9, 8:30 PM
E0305 Business School
North Campus Mass Meeting

If you are unable to attend one of these meetings, please feel free to e-mail me to learn more about the team and our current opportunities.
Go Fast, Go Smooth, Go Blue.
