NC State (SIBS program and grad school)
NC State Statistics is one of the largest, oldest and best departments of statistics in the US. I am writing to let you know about two opportunities for undergraduate students who are interested in statistics.
1. Summer Institute for Training in Biostatistics (SIBS). Applications are now being accepted for our summer 2010 program: http://www.stat.ncsu.edu/sibs/
2. Graduate School. Deadlines are approaching for graduate school applications. Do you have students who are interested in graduate study in Statistics? Only about one-third of our successful applicants have a degree in Statistics. Many have degrees in mathematics, engineering or other areas. The key is to have a strong mathematics background. Visit http://www.stat.ncsu.edu/ and click on the For Prospective Students tab at the top. Students can also contact me (pam_arroway@ncsu.edu) directly with questions.
