GAO: Reform Medicaid, Medicare

Recently, the Government Accountability Office recognized and has spoken about the Medicare problem. "Absent reform, Medicare's and Medicaid's long-term fiscal sustainability for supporting health care for elderly, disabled and low-income Americans is in jeopardy," the Government Accountability Office said. This again recognizes the issue of a flaw in Medicare infrastructure, and the need for a reform before it collapses. "Medicare spending is estimated to be 3.2 percent of the Gross Domestic Product in 2006 and is expected to increase to 7.3 percent of the GDP by 2035", the GAO said. The GAO suggests that congress should take action. Depending on the actions and solutions taken by the future president when Medicare does face financial issues, health care may be affected greatly including the field of pharmacy in many different ways.
