Detroit Revealed: Photographs 2000-2010
Sunday, October 16, 2011 – Sunday, April 8, 2012

The Detroit Institute of Arts is currently running an exhibition on its own environs, the city of Detroit. But rather than examining its history, the exhibition focuses on the nature of Detroit in the past 10 years. The show features artists such as Michelle Andonian, Andrew Moore, Corine Vermeulen, and Dawoud Bay. Their photos and films capture the changing nature of the city and the growth occurring through its decay. The photos include portraits of Detroit’s inhabitants as well as its diverse landscapes that engage the viewer in a dialogue on the current perceptions of Detroit and the unique potential its people and spaces hold for the reshaping of the whole contemporary concept of a city.
