Swept Away (lost games in the baseball playoffs)!

Just thinking about the baseball playoffs and World Series this year.

How much revenue was lost because the winning team scored sweeps in 5 of 7 of the series. The series losing teams only won a total of four games (one by the Yankees and three by the Indians).

Out of a total of 41 scheduled playoff and world series games, they played ONLY 24.

Will add information as it is available!

LetterMeLater (email utility)

OK...so you have to send an email at a certain time - maybe to enter a contest, prove you are at work, send birthday greetings, impress the in-laws, or get in line to buy a doll. But here is the kicker, you will not be near a computer when you need to send the message and Santa has not brought you an iPhone or Blackberry. So how do you schedule an email to be sent at a future date and time when you know you will be nowhere near a computer.

Well hello LetterMeLater.

This neat little web-based utility allows you to send email from any account and have it go out at any date and time (well, any time in the future). You also do not need your computer to be on because it is all web based. This is what they say about the service:

"LetterMeLater.com allows you to send emails to anyone you wish, with the ability to have them sent at any future date and time you choose."

"A feature missing from every email service is the ability to schedule when an email gets sent - you must click the "send" button at the exact moment of delivery." (NOTE: Most of the time you will not need this, but when you do - wow - this is cool!

--end--

So when you need to schedule emails to be sent and you will not be near a computer, this is a totally fab (and free) web utility.

Neat way to download files from YouTube

OK so during the spring, I had to help my son Jeremy download a file from YouTube. I thought it would be a piece of cake...but alas it was not.

I had to do this again at work today and found a nice utility (hence the new category on my blog) that seems to fit the bill.

It has the amazingly logical name of: YouTube to iPod and PSP Converter and it is a small program that will download and convert into an MP4 file format among others. Good for your iPod, your PowerPoint, your...well, whatever.

This is from DVDVIDEOSOFT.COM and is free. So it prompted me to give it my first cannot entry for a new blog category - "new favorite web utilities."

Message to Rep Tim Walberg on the SCHIP Legislation

Sent today - 10-3-2007

Congressman Walberg - I would hope and trust that as you are representing a district with significant unemployment and under-employment (what I might refer to as people who are working multiple part-time jobs or jobs without full benefits), that you reconsider your opposition to the expansion of SCHIP.

This bill would not effect me in the least as I would not qualify for this program and have health insurance through my work. However, at the end of the day, it is clear to me that the GOP and White House opposition to this bill stems from a few people moving off private insurance to this program. You can only be seen as supporting the profits of private insurance companies over the rights of working families.

If you viewed all programs as flawed because of problems at the margins, then we would never fund any of the war in Iraq because of waste and corruption in the contracts issued by the Pentagon.

Again, as a member of YOUR district, I strongly encourage you to consider the middle class families for whom the purchase of additional insurance is not a viable option.

Sincerely, Corey Seeman Saline, MI
