LibraryThing is really cool!
I may never use LibraryThing for professional use, though I can see how someone might discover new academic materials using it, but I sure am going to be using it for my personal reading. I've already discovered new titles and new authors that I want to explore. This caught my attention more than most of the new tools and toys we've experimented with this summer! As a fan of Facebook, I find myself increasingly queasy reading articles like the one found at Blogscholar on Academia and the Dangers of Facebook. Privacy concerns are bigger than I had bothered to think about, but obvious when you consider traditional warnings about care in posting personal information on the web. Facebook just seems so innocuous and just plainfun. I find it hard to keep in mind that we have to be careful, sensible, rational, reasonable... cautious.

Thoughts on Library 2.0
There is a lot of very cool stuff going on out there - sometimes it feels like way too much. I am feeling a little like that teacup being blasted by a firehose. I don't know how to make it more manageable - I find that I start one interesting activity, learn it poorly, and then move on to something else that's caught my attention! So how does one get a handle on all this stuff?
I also wonder, are blogs really out of fashion or what?
I've learned a lot this summer. I hope I can find ways to work it all in to what I do in the fall. It's been fun. Library Thing is my latest addiction...
