Action Plan, The August Cycle
8/10:
EM:
Hello all,
Get In The Car is happy to announce the location of this years Spirit’s Fire Bicycle Fundraiser to assist those affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.
There is still so much work to be done and people desperately need help along the Gulf Coast. Many teams are still traveling to work and many more are still needed to continue the effort.
Dale Kimball of North Shore Disaster Inc., one of the many organizations managing the volunteer teams that travel to the coast when asked when will the clean-up be complete, responded “When the volunteers stop coming!”
You can help. With your prayers, time and contributions.
We will be riding along Hines Drive in the Westland area. (See attached map) There is a section of Hines Drive that is closed to traffic on Saturdays.
The Ride will be held on August 29th (rain or shine) from 8 am until 3 pm.
We ask that all riders interested, visit our web site and download the application and pledge sheet and bring it the day of the ride.
We ask that riders attempt to raise a minimum of $100.00 per rider.
This is a pledge per mile/pledge per rider type event. If you can ride a mile, come on out. If you can ride 25, come on out. If 50 is more your style, come on out, we think you get the picture.
Our goal this year has been set at $ 5000.00
A sub sandwich or pizza lunch will be provided and there will be snacks and water for all.
All riders are required to wear a helmet.
All proceeds from this years ride will benefit Get In The Car’s two Volunteer in Mission Teams traveling this October and also the Detroit Conference of the United Methodist Church’s Volunteer in Mission Program.
If you would like to participate, contribute or be part of a prayer team, please contact me at eric@getinthecar.org.
Please watch your emails for further information in the early days of next week as we secure the starting line and parking arrangements.
In Christ's Hands we are held, Eric
