The Advance
I hadn’t quite
Made the decision;
Open windows
Offered no breeze
But let me hear
The advance
Of rolling thunder
Still safe and
Far enough away
To be hopeful
Whispering promises
Of relief,
Stirring trees and
Swirling thoughts
I didn’t realize
I was waiting
Then the humidity
broke
And so did I.
