business gifts

Promotional items are a great way for businesses to get their name out in the open and to get new customers interested in their product. Now that school has started there are so many companies giving out business gifts, like signing up for a bank account gets you a t-shirt or a mouse pad or free pencils. Or spending a certain amount at the bookstore means you get a water bottle or at other bookstores you get a book full of coupons to use all around town. Students, especially the ones that don't know any better (usually the freshman who just left their parents and are on their own for the first time) but occasionally upperclassmen, jump at the opportunity to open a credit card and get a free pizza. These promotions may seem great right now (especially if you're hungry), but when that card comes in the mail a few weeks from now and you open it and swipe, then swipe again and again, you are going to be paying for way more than that one pizza you got for free.
From a business aspect though promotional items on a college campus are brilliant. What 18-22 year old doesn't want a free pizza or to save on their million dollar books? (Literally my books cost over a thousand dollars this year). So when someone tells me to sign up for a credit card or a checking account and I'll save 20% on my books, it seems unbelievably tempting (that's saving about 200 dollars in the short run).
While I am ripping on the promotions that tend to screw students over, they do have some really great things going on now. Like the new bookstore is handing out water bottles on the corner. Who doesn't want a free water bottle when it's 92 degrees out and you spend the whole day walking from class to class and up and down stairs? And not only do we use that water bottle once, we will use it over and over again (most likely to hide alcohol in it or something), but it will catch our eyes and if we got a deal from a book store, we are likely to go back (poor college students love deals).
So it's great to be in college, even though I have to watch myself for tricky credit card tricks, it is nice to get the occasional free sub sandwich or water bottle.

eco friendly blog

An eco-friendly blog like www.mind-body-planet.com is a great way to get started if you are looking into making your life ‘greener'. This blog tells about people's accounts of living healthier and more eco-friendly. From buying organic to getting into better shape with yoga, you can learn different new and exciting ways to transform your own life. Blogs are such a great way to feel out new things and see how they are without actually doing them yourself yet. By reading someone's personal account, you can see how they, for example, started buying more organic food and replacing their junk food one item at a time. This way, you can get ideas as to how you want to start.
Blogs don't only help you transform your life health wise, they can also help you to find a hobby. By reading what other people enjoy doing for fun, you can feel around for activities that you may like. On www.mygamblingthoughts.com, an online gambling blog, people write about their experiences, as well as tips for new players. If gambling or card playing is something that you are thinking about getting into, you can read about it online and learn before going out and potentially losing money!
Blogs can also teach you to how to do something. Like if you are terrible on computers or with technology overall, www.technologicalthoughts.com, a technology blog can be your best friend. This blog explains several different aspects of computers like photo shopping and how to work iTunes. I know sometimes I don't feel like calling the 1-800 number on the computer box and waiting an hour to talk to a recording. And I also feel dumb sometimes going into a technology store like best buy or the apple store to ask a simple question, because usually they are so knowledgeable and some people are so condescending. The other day I went in to ask how to set up a web cam and the guy looked at me like I was 80 years old and didn't know how to work a computer. I knew kind of how to set it up, but I wanted to make sure I was doing it right before I left for school and he just was so rude about it. He talked to me like I was a 5 year old. So in that case I really wish I would have signed on my computer and looked up a website to find instructions on, because while a lot of people complain about the internet being impersonal, I think sometimes that's what you really need.

insurance blog

On the web there is an obvious shift in the areas in which people rely on their information. The long held belief that the major news sources and the newspapers in our towns are the most conclusive, is not completely true anymore. In the same light, people are shifting the ways in which they share their thoughts with people in their community. Now, any town that has a computer is part of the global community in some form or another. This globalization of the voice of eery individual has really empowered people in their right and willingness to make their voices heard. Now people don't have to get on national news to speak to the whole country. If you can write a blog then you can control politics, opinion, and people's interests. Companies create blogs as well in order to spread the word about their products through the voices of their supporters or critics. If you look at all you can easily find a blog on health, an insurance blog, and a travel industry blog all on the same search engine. These might be based on company funds or they may be based on someone's individual thoughts such as sites like www.thoughtsonhealth.com, www.insuredthoughts.com, and www.travelersthoughts.com. All of these are three sites that are just part of the movement of opinion in this century. They're all sites that are managed and written by independent individuals that are not in anyone's pocket, they just have an honest an general interest in that which they are talking about. These people are also obviously enthusiastic enough to have gone out of their way to write at length about a topic in a way that may be less that academic. On that same note though, many of the best bloggers out there are also professionals and students who have something unique to say on a certain subject. Communications over the past decade have really been making their way from a media controlled monopoly of public opinion, to a sea of opinions that allow for certain individuals to rise to the top and make their voices heard within the global community.

gambling blog

I am one of those people whose mind just runs all the time. It is a very creative mind, however sometimes it runs me ragged from one thought to the next. Some things are difficult for me to choose because I can see the benefits of all the options and I can't decide really which one is right for me. For instance, I love kids and want to teach, but I also love to write and have considered writing a book. I tend to be very comical and sarcastic and tend to make people laugh so sometimes I think that maybe stand up comedy would be the way to go. Sometimes with a mind that is constantly creating ideas it is a burden to sift through them all and come up with just one good solid idea.

Sometimes I get online and for instance, today I got online to go to my favorite online gambling blog at www.mygamblingthoughts.com and after reading it I find myself thinking about getting a new camera for my upcoming trip to Vegas and next thing you know I am on a technology blog at www.technologicalthoughts.com. So I click here and there and next thing I know I am beginning to think about those eco friendly lightbulbs that I ordered on Ebay and I begin researching about them and how much power I can save and then I am at www.mind-body-planet.com a very informative eco-friendly blog, but still I wonder how I switch so quickly from one thought to the next.

It is hard for me to stay on track sometimes and these symptoms only get worse when I am distracted about something like school work, or worried about something like money, and if I am tired I have a really hard time just making heads or tails out of anything at all. I have yet to determine whether the constant flip flopping of my mind is the sign of great mind or a sign of early onset Alzheimer's. In any case, this is the mind that I have been given, and for right now it is the way it is, but I will be working over the next few months on getting my mind focused, even if I have to take something from the health food store to get the job done.

party supplies

I remember when I was little and we would have birthday parties my dad would always take us to the store to get party supplies. When you're little, having the best birthday party is such a big deal to you and all of your friends. We used to try to outdo each other and compete to have the best party. I remember one year we had a pony come to our house and do rides. Another year we had a luau party and swam in our pool. For the luau party we went all out (like seriously all out!) We had lei's and coconut drinks and grass skirts and flowers in our hair and we cooked out in the back yard and had pineapples it was so fun and I think I was only like 8 years old. The big thing in middle school was roller skating parties for your birthday. We would all get glow sticks or glow necklaces for party favors, but at a lot of the skating parties we would get our party favors before the party started because there was a lights out skate for like ten minutes and we would all put on our glow necklaces (we thought we were so cool).
But now that we're older it's funny because we do the same things (well maybe not roller skating), but we try to have themed parties like when we were younger. We had a black and white themed party the summer going into my freshman year of college which was super fun and a really good time to say goodbye to everyone before we left for college. We've also had Hawaiian parties (similar to our luau party when we were younger) except with alcohol. I think themed parties are a way for everyone to just let loose and have a good time. Having a theme or dressing up as a part or to fulfill a theme takes you out of your comfort zone and you enjoy the party a lot more I think. We're trying to plan a themed party for the end of the summer and so far we haven't come up with a good theme. We might end of re doing the black and white because that was a hit or maybe cubs vs. white sox fan (but almost everyone is a sox fan). As long as it has a theme though i'm sure it will be a blast!

payday loans

Since I have been taking classes this summer, all of my family updates have by way of big long e-mails from each individual member of the family. I send out my weekly e-mail address to the family and then throughout the week I get a nice slow trickle down of everyone else's issues and thoughts on what I have said. Yesterday I got some bad news from one of my cousins who is actually supposed to be a year ahead of me in school but unfortunately she has had to stop school for the time being to get herself in a better position financially. She doesn't have much money from her parents and the rest of the family can't give her much. She said that leaving school for the year to work and get herself ready to go back is the best case option that she really has. Basically it got to a point where when her workload would increase she either had to decide between working and not doing assignments or taking no fax payday loans to make up for the time until she could afford the bills.
Now I love my cousin and I would help her if I could, but she has never been very good with money. I am glad that she at least turned to a legal or ethic manner of paying her short term bills such as these payday loans. She also had the smarts to start out with the free payday loans and then as she got a little bit more behind in her bills she had to go to the longer rate ones that cost a bit more. This decision is probably what allowed her to stay in school long enough to finish out the semester with good grades. I think if she had chosen some other route this would not have turned out as well as it did. I have always thought highly of her and I am glad to hear that although she is dropping out of school for the time being, at least she is doing it with a little bit of brains involved.

California alcohol rehab

Many people around this country are seeking help. College students are especially at risk for behaviors that could be considered deviant and abusive to themselves and to others. It is said that college is a time of experimentation for most people and I agree. At the same time though I feel that with testing boundaries people look for the outer edge of what they can handle and this alone can lead to problems for anyone. For small children it can result in falling off a bike and scraping knees, and for an adult it can result in addiction or death.
College students tend to put much more focus than is necessary on their desire to drink and abuse the health and well-being of their bodies. All across the country there are students who are working hard to succeed in the educational goals who are also suffering from an addiction problem. Just because they have this problem does not mean that they are failures or that they need to give up on their goals. What they really need is to enter in to some kind of a rehab program for a little while and learn about what they are really doing when they drink or abuse drugs. This problem is especially strong among college age men and in the state of California there are some of the best rehab programs in the country. Mens rehab in California is so strong for many reasons, but the point is that it works. Also, California alcohol rehab is exceptionally well structured and so anyone seeking a great deal of help quickly should look for the best programs they can find.
The point of all of this is that there are some people who obviously have problems and some that are good at hiding the things that they are going through. For the people in the first category it is usually some kind of legal situation that turns them around or makes them worse. For the latter it is typically a personal choice because they are suffering in secret and rationalizing through their problems as a means to cope with addiction. No matter who you are, you should seek help if you ever think that you have a problem.

Texas home builders

I am totally exhausted today because I just got back from my mission trip to Ghana. My church group and some Texas home builders went over there to help build homes for people who can't afford anything at all. We met all of the families through the church because they are part of another branch over there. It was an amazing experience but the flights have totally drained me of all of my energy.
The trip lasted about three weeks and it is something that will stick with me for the rest of my life. I don't know what my favorite part of the trip was in terms of things I can point to on a map or in a book, because what struck me the most were the people. Every one of these families was living in such a state that anyone in this country would have been shocked to live that way for a day. With conditions of labor and resources as bad as they are for these families, our work really seemed to be a huge burst of energy and life for these people. We built five homes and with each home we set up a rain catching system with a solar water purifier. Each home is totally run on solar energy and so these families have gone from the worst off to having some of the most advanced homes in the country in three weeks. After each significant step in the building process the reactions from the families was just beautiful because I could understand how they would feel overwhelmed by our generosity and their new homes.
The actual work was much harder than I though it was going to be. I like to think of myself as a pretty sporty girl but this was just straight up back breaking labor. I don't think that I was really ready to take that much sun and a few times I did get a little bit too dehydrated while on the job. The builders were really great though because they knew exactly what they were going to do before we ever got there and so we just took orders and tried our best. It was a really beautiful experience and I hope that everyone can try something like that at some point.

chocolate

So I recently went to our local health food store in hopes to start eating a little better. I already eat pretty healthy, but like any other college student I fall for the late night snacking and eating out with friends. At school there aren't very many healthy stores. Sure the local Wal-Mart where almost everyone shops has a fruit and vegetable aisle, but there aren't really any stores that are completely dedicated to health. So before I go back to school for the fall or when I am home for breaks, I go to the local health food store and stock up on stuff to bring back. I always find so many good healthy snacks like trail mix and popcorn. I love all the snacks and even the weird dips and organic chips that they sell. My favorite thing about the store though is their gigantic chocolate aisle. They have a really long and really wide (I'm pretty sure that it is the biggest aisle in the store) aisle that is just full of chocolate things. So buying a ton of chocolate snacks from a health food store, like chocolate covered pretzels and trail mix with chocolate chips mixed in makes me feel like it is healthy too. They have the best chocolate chip granola bars, which even though I'm sure are no better than the granola bars you get at the regular grocery store, but I have convinced myself that because they are from the health food store that they are really good for me.
So now that I am getting ready to leave for school, I am making a list of all the things I want to bring with. Of course I'm going to bring my favorite pizza bagels that have organic sauce and goat cheese and oregano that takes only like 3 minutes to make (perfect dinner for a college student or someone like me that can't cook at all) and the dried fruit bars that are easy to pack in my bag and eat in class without getting caught, but I am also definitely going to stock up on chocolate covered pretzels (a great late night library snack) and chocolate drizzled peanut butter clusters, my second favorite. Because in my mind even though I'm sure this stuff will be the death of me one day, it is from the health food store therefore it must be good for me. Ha.

promotional umbrellas

Promotional umbrellas are brilliant. I live in Muncie, Indiana for most of the year because I go to school there, so if it isn't snowing (which is does A LOT), it's probably raining. I swear it feels like it rains at least 5 out of the 7 days in a week sometimes. And if you are a college student in Muncie, you better own an umbrella, because walking from class to class in the rain is one thing, but sitting through a whole class soaking wet is intolerable.
If I was a business person that had just opened a company, promotional umbrellas is something I would really consider. Everyone needs an umbrella, and who really thinks to go out and buy one. It's weird, I have so many umbrellas that I have accumulated over the years, but I don't remember actually going out to buy an umbrella specifically. I would say over half of my umbrellas have some company's logo or name on it and was probably free from a stand or an informational booth that company was at, telling people about their business. But to tell you the truth, I don't, and I'm sure a lot of people don't really care what my umbrella looks like. No matter what it says on it, an umbrella will keep me dry, and that is all that I care about, and if its free, even better. Now if I was a business person giving out promotional umbrellas I would really benefit, because I know at least at Ball State, people bring their umbrellas everywhere because you never know there when it will rain! You see different umbrellas everywhere and you can't help but notice what's on them. So if I see a pink umbrella I think, wow that's cute or if I see an umbrella with a logo or name of a business I think about that particular business. So many people see umbrellas around, so if you are a business with your name on what, you are really getting your name out there for people to see! I see umbrellas on the street on the way to class and on the floor I class (I probably look at the umbrellas more than the teachers notes on the board) and even at the bars in the doorway peoples umbrellas are sprawled out getting out the names of businesses.

Detroit internet access

I arrived today in Detroit to do my last little bit of research here at the university and I have got a lot to do before classes start up again in the fall. I am here to do some independent
music therapy research with a couple of guys that I met at a conference last year. We are doing this all as a part of a much bigger focusing mission to try and eventually, when I graduate, start up some kind of a mind-body health clinic in this area. They are two guys that really know the area quite well and so I am basically just here to do some observations and to get trained by them on using this machine they use for distressing called The Life-Vessel. While I am here I will be subletting a bedroom in the city with high-speed Detroit internet access and a shared kitchen until I have to go back. I haven't met the residents because right now I am in a café sending out emails to all of the people who need to know that I have arrived. Until my ride gets here I will write a little bit about what kinds of research I have been doing.
The research that I doing is all part of the major that I have created around the mind-body connection and the many different aspects of what we all know as consciousness. I hope to, as I said, eventually set up a clinic where we use these types of machines and therapies in conjunction with close observation in order to try to make connections about various aspects of our physical circumstance. My fascination with the body and the effectiveness of alternative styles of healing has led me to really want to get to the bottom of the question of our consciousness. It is really exciting to find myself here, so far from home and school, trying my best to make that dream a reality in any way that I can. This is the way that my vision of the future seems to really be flowing and I think that I will get to see all of my dreams realized short of actually answering that question because I don't know if there is an answer.

Detroit phone service

I just got back in to town a week ago and today my internet finally got hooked up again so I need to vent a little bit. I have not had a very good summer so far at all. I left town here a day after I finished my last final and went to visit my parents for a little while back home. Then from there I had to fly to Detroit to go to an internship that my father got me which he said would look great on an internship and I don't disagree. The job was an amazing experience in business and taught me a great deal about the inner workings of a financial institution. It was outside of the workplace that I had some big problems. TO give some frame, finding cheap Detroit phone service seemed to be the easiest part of my whole summer so far.
The problems really began right after I got off the plane. I waited in the terminal for about two hours talking to people and walking miles of steps to find that my luggage had been lost somewhere. The said they would let me know when they found it and so I gave them my cell phone number to reach me. I left the airport and went to my place, which was super tiny, and I just tried to sleep for the night. The next morning I got up and went to check my cell phone far any messages from the airline and realized that I had forgotten my phone in the taxi. I never did get it back. So now I have no phone and no clothes so I had to go out and buy some nice clothes with the little money I had and then go to work. As I said the work was great but after a week of working I was really sort of bored when I went home. I am not usually the kind of person who likes having free time because it just makes me feel like I am not doing something to better myself.
Now that I am back in town I have plenty of things to do here and I am grateful for the experience. Though I still haven't gotten my bags back I am really glad I had that experience and now that I have three weeks to recover before class starts again.

search marketing

Business executives are more often than ever hopping online to find the things that they need. Being that this method takes less time, it is a common practice among the top business executives in the world. Having a good online marketing campaign is extremely important for this reason. A recent poll amongst top executives shows that:

* 67% of C-level executives say the Internet is their most important source of business information.

* Senior executives research competitors and industry trends online daily.

Of the C-level executives polled the following results were tallied:

* 54 percent conduct online researches
* 34 percent say they go to the Web first to find information on a product or service
* 86 percent use search engines

Among search engines it is no surprise that business to business (B2B) searches are more often preformed on Google than on any other engine. Executives actually have a higher preference for using Google than even the average consumer.

For the average company this means that online marketing strategies must be geared toward attracting the business executives from other companies. Going about this is pretty simple.

First, understand how executives search. Do some search query (keyword) analysis. In general, executives are interested in broad, strategic topics, and tend to focus on information such as industry research, market trends, competitive insights, new capabilities, and future predictions.

Second, B2B marketers must make sure that your company is visible when these types of searches are conducted.

Third, make sure your search marketing is targeting the specific audience you desire and that your message is relevant. Does your search listing—paid or organic—include strategic information and a compelling call to action that would appeal to an executive?

Having these ideas in mind when beginning your online marketing campaign will help you make the most of your advertising dollars. Audience specific online marketing will produce the results you want much more quickly than just throwing out a whole bunch of random ads will. Gearing advertising directly at your target audience will give you the benefits you want, and will get you more bang for your advertising buck!

weight loss tips

The summer is the time to get yourself back in to shape. All winter long we lock ourselves inside to study and better ourselves in the long run. For those of us who couldn't afford to spend time in the gym during those cold months, we need to use the summer as best we can to work off those extra pounds. I noticed my freshman fifteen pretty quickly the first time I took off my shirt in the spring. I quickly put it back on and decided that I was going to try to get back in to better shape.
There are plenty of options out there for us to choose from in terms of how we reach this ambiguous goal of better body figure. For me I went to a gym on a supplemental memberships starting in June. Usually at these types of places they give you lots of options of what kinds of activities you can do for exercise and what kinds of things you can do to look and feel better. They usually, as mine did, have a dietician or weight loss trainer on staff for you to help meet you goals. They can give you plenty of weight loss tips and exercise regimes to get you back on track. If you need something a little more fast acting or just a boost in you own work, they can help you decide on the correct weight loss pills for you body type. When you have a little program of your own set up it is just a matter of staying consistent and keeping yourself motivated. By the end of the summer you could be in better shape and health than before you came to school. It is all a matter of you goals and motivation.
These are just some of the ways in which we as students can work to drop those freshman fifteen before they turn in to the sophomore thirty. I don't know if that is real but it sounds pretty scary, right? So get out there and enjoy the sunny weather any way you can and remember that when the cold weather rolls around you are not going to want to go out and sweat off anything.

orovo

Everyone's getting healthier and ‘going green' now a days. It seems like organic stores and whole food markets are the new thing. Saving the planet and taking care of our bodies is in now and I'm going to jump on board. Multivitamins are bigger than ever. Companies like Orovo are coming out with health supplements that are becoming more popular than ever. You hear about age fighting or cancer fighting foods like blueberries (and foods with anti oxidants) and Orovo has antioxidants just for you. Orovo has a top ten super foods product that started from an idea they got from a dermatologist that was on Oprah.
Even on shows like Oprah, the topics have become way more body conscious and earth friendly than they were before. A few years ago you would turn on the TV and see shows with topics like: I cheated on you with your sister, or stories about infidelity. Now you can turn on the TV and see Dr. Oz on showing you how to eat healthier or what will happen to your body if you don't. Some of the shows that Oprahs and even other shows like the view are exposing our unhealthy habits and trying to get us to turn around. Dr. Oz on the Oprah show has a great way of showing you what you're doing wrong and actually making such an impact on you that you want to change. I remember an episode when he took pictures of ten to twelve year olds who ate poorly and showed them what they would look like in their forties if they kept eating that way. A lot of them were so shocked that they began eating healthier right away. People need to actually see what is happening to them and be impacted enormously in order to make a change. Just telling someone that they aren't eating right doesn't always work. And now there are shows like Oprah (and several others) a long with products like orovo and other multi vitamins that can help you get to the healthy you that you have been striving for. With all of the tools we have today, it can be hard to find the right diet or exercise that works for you, but we also have so many resources now that if you are willing to make a change in your life, there is a way out there for you to do it.
