So your telling me there's a chance.
On Monday I worked for 5 hours on IP. 3 hours were in the Metals studio working on a sample locket. I sketched about 15 different ideas for a new locket for a couple of hours.
Tuesday, I worked for 3 hours in the metals studio. I was finishing and sanding my sample locket. I also discussed my idea to Anne Mondro. She suggested I think more about the materials I use. Does it need to be so permanent? I started to collect more materials.
Wednesday, I worked for 4 hours in the metals studio. I thought I was done after and hour of sanding but then the hinge popped off so I had to redo it.
Thursday, I worked for 3 hours in the morning. I worked on sketching exactly how I wanted my locket to work and wrote the order of processes. I bought the materials for the locket. I started constructing it. I made a website through weebly.com to show my portfolio. It was fun and I liking working on it.
Today I am working on finding the right pattern to photo etch onto the silver. I am in North Carolina for a wedding so I will not be in the studio until Monday. I'm interested in mechanisms so I'm looking at how stuff in machines is put together and talking with my father about it. He used to be an industrial designer.
Sometimes I really like my idea but its easy to get discouraged for some reason. Maybe it just wasn't the best week. I'm trying to stay positive and have fun exploring my idea.

process
1. I am drawn to movement and the body. After a couple of years in metals class I have explored many different types of contemporary jewelry and see a future in this field. I would like to do a project about the body moving and work with different materials and metal to show that the body moved. The material within the piece will make marks on the clothes as the body moves. The piece is more about creation rather than destruction.
2. I have worked for the last two years on pieces about nature. I like studying nature and depicting different aspects of nature that I find interesting. In metals I would like to concentrate on different mechanisms that depict a specific aspect of nature.
3. In Italy I began exploring different approaches to painting. I was inspired by Andy Goldsworthy and let go of control. Another idea for a series of paintings was to use turpentine and drip painting down the canvas and then draw into these lines made from chance. It would be about control versus the uncontrolled.
