Search and Discovery
The most interesting search engine that I looked at was www.grokker.com. I think this is a very original and organized style of searching the internet. While I think that it is nice to use if you are doing a more general search, when looking for more specific information it can be frustrating because you are unsure which category Grokker would put the topic under.
For example, when I search for song lyrics on the internet I like to choose sites that are not lyric based because they generally have a lot of pop-ups. Unfortunately, Grokker seemed like an inefficient search engine to find a non-lyrics-based site because of its system of catergorization. I had to click on each individual catergory and search the links within it, whereas with Google or Yahoo I could just browse 50 sites at once.
I do think Grokker is a neat tool that is very aesthetically pleasing and definitely applicable to certain searches, but overall I prefer yahoo and google.
