In 2004 I got my first experience in engineering in professor Robert newcombe lab in microelectrical engineering at the university of Maryland. There I assisted him on the development of circuits to mimick neural components. Then in 2005 I got my first experience in the medical field as a volunteer ambulance medic at cabin john fire station near my home. I was part of the first response and performed duties from recovery from a broken vehicle to treatment and transport of a patient in shock. I then furthered my interest in medicine by interning inside the hospital in the neuroradiology department with dr. Wayne olan. In the radiology department I observed and assisted in procedures such as stent implantation and embolisation giving me a great understanding in optics as well as human circulation and oncology. I was able to combine my interest in engineering and medicine by going to the university of Michigan and study in biomedical engineering. I started with the prerquisite class and had an enormous interest in math. I exceled in calculus and 3-d geometrical modeling with the help of my professors. At the university they had combined math and biology into a class which I had decided to take. The mathematical biological modeling course enhanced my learning in both subjects, teaching me real world applications of math while simplifying biology such as the modeling of flight patterns of birds and the activation of the immune system. Once I had entered the biomedical classes I gained interest in biofluids after taking the course with professor joe bull. The class taught the simple biofluids model such as water flow to more complex such as circulatory flow through the body. I though was more interested in the chemistry component of biology and decided to declare as a biochemical engineer. My interest in chemistry in biology lead me to dr. Thomas wants optical molecular imaging lab in the spring of 2008. There I first assisted with the development of the t7 tagged phage to attempt to bind it to cancerous tissue. There I learned techniques such as phage library development and ELISA.

I am an avid fan of the Redskins and have been my whole life growing up in Washington and going to the games every year. So when I heard the news of Sean Taylor being shot and the subsequent death I was deeply saddened. Now I have never meet him and do not believe to claim any sort of friendship and believe that no one should claim friendship with people in the public eye. But it is still sad and unfortunate when a man is gunned to death and also in his own him with his one year old daughter in the same home at the time. The 24 year old Taylor was gunned down in the saddest of circumstances, coming out of his room after he heard the intruder presumably to protect the family. He was shot in the leg which hit an artery and bled out and never regained consciousness. He also was not even supposed to be home but was home because his injury did not allow him to travel with the team back to Washington after their game on Sunday. This was sad for anyone and I hope the family can cope with this terrible tradgedy. To continue reading about this story follow this link:

I recently gave blood for the first time, because I was finally elidgible and had the time and oopportunity to do it. It was not as bad as I thought as it was just a sting in the arm for all of 10 minutes but the problem was it was not too particularly efficient and I was forced to wait over an hour to experience the pain. But it was all worth it in the end and I gave my blood to the community and managed not to pass out. But I have also gave in a much more non direct way recently. There is a site called grablifegivelife.com in which various organizations can vie for votes and the first five to get to 20,000 votes win x amount of money. UMDM (University of Michigan Dance Marathon) is an event on the site and is currently in sixth place, one spot out of fifth. Now everyone can vote everyday but only once a day so I urge you to do so and save it as a favorite and ensure that UMDM wins money to go toward their event and further their cause for their charity of pediatric rehabilitation. Please help out. Thank you so much :)

For the Impact Survey I made a survey about You Tube the survey was such: (I credit Evan Plisner for the printing out a survey idea by copyright laws)
1. How long do you watch You Tube in a day?

2. On a 1-10 scale how much do you enjoy You Tube

3. On a 1-10 scale how important do you think You Tube is to our society today

Feel free to explain any of your answers.

Now I have yet to look at any of the answers I received because I feel that just giving the survey was interesting in itself. The total of 7 people that I have so far collected gave me interesting reactions to both the fact of being asked to be in a survey and also the answers and questions they said aloud either to me or to the people around them. They were aloud in their answers and I can kind of get an idea of how seriously people answered them and it was funny. I originally meant for the survey to be an instantaneous idea like looking at an ink blot and trying to determine what it was, and some people treated it as such. But then others treated it like a wrestle with life or death not knowing what to truly put down because they have not even thought about this simple questions even for the great deal of time they seemed to have involved or heard about You Tube. I guess in my inadequacy at survey making an interesting thing came about of more wanting to read peoples reactions when they are taking the survey seems more appropriate than the information they write down on the survey itself. This seems to me to make me think more about what data comes about on surveys and how much I should really believe them with just statistics and data.

Now on to the collected data:
Answers
Person 1:
1. 0
2. 5
3. 5
Did not explain further

Analysis: This person clearly had no interest in You Tube and it seems their answers to 2. and 3. are more just general statements than true answers. They should maybe be taken out of a more serious survey but I shall keep them.

Person 2:
1. 5.37629 min
2. 6.375
3. 10.1
None

Analysis: This person probably was less interested because of the fact of more numbers but still showed a great deal of interest in the survey from the unreal number in 10.1. They did not themselves enjoy You Tube very much but believed it affected us overall.

Person 3:
1. .5
2. 10
3. 1

Analysis: the .5 is confusing with the 10 given in enjoyment because it could either mean .5 minutes, .5 hours, or even .5 of a day so I really dont know what to make of this.

Person 4:
1. 20 min
2. 7
3. 5

Analyis: Some actually real answers.

Person 5:
1. 0
2. 0
3. 0
Note: all 0 has slash through them

Analysis: Person has no interest in You Tube

Person 6:
1. 1 hr
2. 8
3. 1
Explination: Im not really into it but its fun to see what people thing about differnt aspects of life.

Anlaysis: explination.

Person 7:
1. 5 min
2. 10
3. 2

Analysis: An enjoyment but no real idea on how You Tube Changes society

My own impact on you tube is that it is entertainment. I believe it is just as important as things as the television in our lives as it can give us news and can be utilized as a mass communicator, but for the most part is entertainment. You tube is a sort of bridge of the computer into the television industry allowing us to create our own channels and even feeds off the television as everyone wants their 15 minutes of fame and you tube is a way of getting it easy. But you tube does still have a great deal of potential and in this ever changing world we will see how it develops in the future, if it even survives that long.

This Halloween I was Stephen Colbert of the Colbert Report. This was in honor of his announcement to run for President of the US in the South Carolina race as both a Republican and Democrat. It got a great deal of comments and I, or Stephen, appeared to have a great deal of supporters. Well recently the South Carolina Democratic Party turned down Stephen Colbert for their ballot on the 08 presidential race. I know that this was all a play but I feel that it has made more impact in the young adult category than anything else in a long time. This is such a crucial group too I believe because what they lack in resources younger Americans make up for in communication, willingness, and a good deal of free time. The facebook group 1,000,000 strong for Stephen Colbert made it to 1,000,000 in a short 8 days after he declared his presidency and is still growing. It has taken 1,000,000 strong for Barack Obamas group (the group the first one was imitating) months to only reach 400,000. Then walk across the diag see the various group of protestors made up of young adults showing their voice. Then what young americans lack in money that make up for in time and can change use it towards their causes. This truly should be a wake up call for political America to show that the young adults of today are not those of the 70's who were rambunctious but got nothing done, ie Nixons win, and not the stangnant group during the 80's and 90's, that they could truly be woken up to create a force for change that will leave old red tape and party bickering behind and have more pure values and desires. Someone needs to replace Colbert and actually run and make a real difference in America.

I was recently called by a solicitor hired by the University of Michigan asking if I would donate money for the new stadium. Now the absurd fact that they would ask for more money than I already give them, especially with having to pay for my fball tickets on top of my tuition, is just stupid and a waste of time. I have no money and if I would I would 1) not give it to um and 2) not give it to them for a project with which I object to in the first place. Now I know that this isnt the fault of the kid calling me, I actually have a friend who works for these people and calls alumi for donations, so i know he was just doing his job. I asked him to take me off the list because I was just like him and had no money. On top of it all, they called my cell phone which is just a terrible move because if you call someone who only has a cell phone you know they dont have enough money for either a real house and a phone line or are a cheap college student who realizes they have no need for landlines anymore, btw my cell phone number is the number for my life. But I hope that these people at whatever company it is wises up and realizes that having students call current students to ask for donations is just stupid and should be stopped to stop wasting both my and their time.

Over the last weekend I had the chance to go home for fall break. I gave it up to stay here because a friend of mine was coming from Purdue and plus I thought I would get more done here with less things to do such as see people. I am kind of regreting that decision because my friend ended up not coming because his car was in the shop and I was very unproductive over the weekend. It was just me lying around watching tv and just being in general a bum. I am though glad that my parents are coming up next weekend especially since we are going to have a tailgate for all the kids and their parents, haha. But no im just really happy that im going to see them as i do genuinely miss them because they are my parents and they do do everything for me and also because they recently have become empty nesters with the leaving of my younger sister to college so it should be nice for them as well as me :)

I feel for you. I myself was in the NU, by the way that chant is possibly the worst in the nation, student section sporting my maize and blue. I didnt even bother to take my michigan gear off when walking in stating, "I am a NU student from Michigan and I am a diehard fan," which worked. I did not walk into the student section early like you but walked in late, just @ the point that we lost our 7-3 lead. I was then heckled for 3 periods being nice and keeping my mouth shut. It was painful to hear these NU kids try to heckle a Michigan football fan and it was downright pitiful. But eventually Michigan regained the lead and I screamed "HAIL TO THE VICTORS" to which the NU students replied with the "Asshole" chant, really be more creative NU. After a few more Hail to the Victors me and my friends left w/ the mass exedous and that is when I realized if I had repeated any of my actions at another big ten school, I would have been leaving on a streacher. So NU just has a lot to learn, not only on the football field but in the student section as well.

I am going to attend the carer fair day tomorrow on north campus. This is my first carer fair and that makes me nervous. I have no idea what to do when I walk up to these recruiters or what they are going to say or how I should act. But I guess that is the point of first times isnt it? I just would love to get a good intership back at home so that I could stay with my family all summer and just relax with friends. I really want to talk to the reps from Dupont because they manufacture medical protection devices, the closest thing to biology with opportunities in d.c., and I am a biomedical engineer. What worries me are the questions and how i should respond. I know everything should be short and sweet but I do not want to be pulling the same bs that everyone else is doing. I want to stand out because that is th eonly way for me to get noticed through the hundreds of kids. Also, I dont know if I should go to Dupont first, as it is probably going to be one of the most hectic booths and also because it would be my first interview in this format ever. Well I guess when I get there tomorrow Ill have to work it out. Wish me Luck :)

Right now me and the guys of my house are sitting around our television doing something as a team, which actually has no teamwork at all but whatever we still do it as a 'team'. Its refered to as 'Zombie Killing Time' and its one of us, mostly Chad or me, playing Resident Evil 4 on the Wii and running around killing Zombies. Right now the two guys are saying he cant start the single player game because they have to grab a snack to watch them kill zombies, now take in mind these two guys weight a combined 450+ and could together finish a cow in a day but that is besides the point, it is the fact that they want him to replay a place that he already beat because they werent part of it and we must beat this single player game together. Just now we are about to kill the little napoleon guy who is becoming a monster or 'getting eaten by one'. ("monsters, guess after this this there will be one less to worry about")
All in all this makes the wii an excelent buy because it has made a singleplayer game into a team sport which is just excellent.
P.S. Bob if you read this, join us more for zombie killing time, we have a saved seat for you.

The ctools site has been a useful tool for me personally. It just allowed for someone like me who never likes to carry around paper or anything for the matter but has a wealth of computers to access, like everyone else at UM does. It was extremely useful to always know what was going on in each class in a college environment that is so much more hectic than high school. Keeping track of homework was nice because i could never keep track of it myself. Making ctools mandatory is not too hectic because it does not take too much time to put up a syllabus and then it is up to the teacher to update it or not, but at least the syllabus will be there for constant reference. It will also hopefully get more teachers to constantly use it so that the students can stay more in tuned.
One thing though is that I dont know if this rule is policed too much because my Math class has no ctools, but it could be because it is a 400 level class with graduate students in it who do not use ctools.
