The Goodbye Blog

It's been a fun two years, kids, but this blog-like clever network sitcoms and summer romances-must come to an end. I've really enjoyed it, and hope you have, too!

I've accomplished my goals: I've earned a degree and found a few jobs! I am currently working as a part-time Reference Librarian at two great libraries-one suburban and busy, the other small, rural and educated. This summer has been a great best practices research project, and I honestly do think I'm better off for the time I spent researching different libraries and interviewing with different directors and department heads. The downside to working at two different places is the commute (I work 7-9 shorter shifts a week instead of 5 long ones), the attention split, and not being able to really dig my roots into one place. The upsides, however, include the ability to learn from a LOT of different people, to test my ideas in different environments and to have two bosses to go to when conferences come around and I'm looking for someone to foot the bill. I'm loving it!

So although I am ending this blog and moving from SI student to Alumni Mentor-ish type, I won't be leaving the realm of library-related blogging. I'm moving my musings to another venue: a Wordpress blog I've titled "UnShushed" (http://unshushed.wordpress.com). Clever, I know. Still, I welcome your questions and comments if you are currently practicing, pursuing or considering librarianship or other information-ey career.

Later, gators!..and remember: BOOKS ARE FOR USE!
