It's been a while now, and Banned Books week is over, but in case you haven't seen it yet, check out the Graduate Library's banned books photo set on Flickr.

Paper Chair

Well - obviously I've been so conflicted about the purpose of this blog that I can't decide on anything to post. However, this morning I read about something fascinating in the Washington Post, that I just have to link to it here - a Japanese designer who has constructed a chair completely out of paper:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/02/07/AR2006020702097.html

purpose

So - I'm conflicted about this whole blogging thing. On the one hand, the idea of having a forum to voice my thoughts (and exchange with others) is fine, but on the other hand - why not do this through some real live one-on-one communication?

Also, I feel that if I'm going to have a blog, I ought to be posting articulate, thoughtful, formed opinions rather than the random thoughts running through my head (like I am now). And articulate and thoughtful requires time, effort, brain power, etc...

On the other hand, it's nice to be able to communicate with friends that I may not see or talk to very often.

By the way, I had an apple for breakfast today. And recently stubbed my toe. kidding, Suzanne ;)

Related to blogging, the Wash Post has an article in today's paper regarding teenage blogging and its dangers, one of which is that prospective colleges and employers may be reading one's blog. The thought of which really makes me not want to have a blog. Here's the article: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/01/16/AR2006011601489.html?referrer=emailarticle

testing, testing

This is the first time I've ever had a blog, and I'm mainly doing this just to try it out... really, I have nothing to say that I want to be publicly available on the web. How do y'all feel about this?
