Hello new semester!

I have to admit that everything went so fast after I came home. When I got back to AA last week, my home trip felt like just a dream and there the new semester has already started! It is so hard to pull myself together again.

Yesterday was the SI Day of Service and we volunteered in different sections of AA. I volunteered in AA Reuse Center. At first we thought we would be sorting out recycling materials and stuff like that. I was excited because I sometimes got confused with what materials for recycle and I thought this might be a good chance to learn. Well, the ReUse Center actually sells their recycle stuff. So we ended up working in the “lighting” section, sorting out lamps and rearranging them to make the section more “visually attractive.” Three hours’ of work was very productive, and the lighting section looked completely new, well, “new” in its own way as they were all recycled stuff. After the work we went back to North Quad, had pizza while reflecting on our experience.

Volunteering has been a tradition of mine since I first came to US in 2004. I realize it is becoming more so in Ann Arbor. The snowing season is just half way through, in which I also spent three weeks at home in China, yet I am already getting rapidly increasingly tired of it! All week long it seems that the only thing that can be done is study, and the hunger of doing something else or just meeting people is killing me. So, I guess volunteer should be a good experience? Strange way to look at it but it is true. I guess I am thinking of more ways to enrich my life.
