Snow Crystals

Sparkle is all over

this winter trend.

Silver and white
crystal-studded, glitter-covered
fashion is hitting the runways and the stores. This borderline gaudy design
emerges this season more refined for elegant style,
looking more wearable
and less flapper throwback.

Filling your closet with ice like these snow crystals might help you get through the real snow coming down this winter.

Before getting to looks in this trend, I thought I'd begin with this inspirational crystal art as editorial makeup by Joanne Gair. It captures the contrasting elegance and edge of the crystallized trend.

Swarovski Crystal is adding its own twist on crystal-embellished fashion accessories by featuring unique designs they call “active crystals.” Now you can get the best of both worlds: fashionable form and function. Of their recently added active crystals collection, some of my favorites are the “Lock Out USB Memory Key” and the “Breeze White Bluetooth Headset,” pictured below.

The retractable USB connector makes this sparkling charm a lock on my list-so cute, I think I would wear it on a necklace, and so functional I dare say it is one of the most form functional successes I have seen this season. And the white bluetooth headset looks more modern and chic-now instead of looking like you are wearing an alien headset and walking around looking like you are talking to yourself you can look like you are wearing a really cool alien headset! Unfortunately, you'll still look like you're talking to yourself, sorry.

Its not just the specialized crystal designers like Swarovski that are embracing this trend, some of the biggest names in fashion are in bejeweling, sometimes bejeweling overdrive, mode in create their winter collections. And their is diversity in this trend's products, too. From elegant "Whatabow" evening sandals to baby bling converse, crystal rhinestones are the embellishment of choice for many shoe designers.
