Purple Reign
Royal purple is reigning
over the fashion kingdom.
Spring and summer fashion saw bright colors everywhere, from hot pinks to patent reds, but the color at the top of hierarchy this winter is purple. From party dresses to mini clutches, purple is invading wardrobes and conjuring up images of elegance, opulence, and sophistication.

Purple varieties of all sorts are hitting the stores this season. It is showing up in every shade, all the way from neon to soft lavender and deep violets. Plus, the shades are perfect for most skin tones in a way bright color and pale pastels are not. Purple doesn’t age discriminate either, looking good on grandmas, mothers and daughters, and all age ranges in between. Purple’s wearability and large consumer base make it both winter’s hottest color and one I expect to last a while.
Purple is both partywear-perfect and daywear-delightful because it looks trendy and striking without saying “look at me, look at me” to get noticed like many statement pieces and “it” trends do. The “little purple dress” is making it big this season, and celebrities are embracing it all over the party-scene dance floor and red carpet events. But a more surprising purple presence is enlivening the drab winter wardrobe of blacks and grays, the purple coat.

But this trend has to be done right, stick to one piece purples whether it’s a top, bottom, or dress, but beware of matching them. If you’re not ready to risk looking like Willy Wanka’s blueberry girl, or a grape, keep your wardrobe classic neutral and accessorize in purple instead.
