The Statement...Shoe?
Statement pieces are in full
force but taking an unusual
shape--literally.

Without a doubt, fashion is wearable art. But designers’ creativity has pushed wearable art from gorgeous prints, tailored design, “it” bags, and statement necklaces to a new frontier: the statement “shoe,” featuring outrageous sculptural design and stunning loss of all functionality.
Fashion may be wearable art, but these statement shoes aren’t even walkable.
Before getting to looks in this trend, I thought I'd begin with this
inspirational and humorous picture of a real work of shoe art. I'm not sure how long it will be before designers expect us to wear these, although if the current runways are any sign, it may be very soon.

SHOES TO DIE FOR
These killer heels sure state a call for attention, but whether fashion enthusiasts- embracing Chanel’s sculptural symbol of walking violence as perfectly edgy and bold-or critics, PTA moms, peace advocates, and classical fashionistas alike, will respond. My vote: keep these firearms off of fashionable feet. But at $2,200 these heels will be killing only one thing for sure: your budget!
It’s a bird. It’s a French Republican Guard in uniform. No, it’s Roger Vivier Haute Couture Shoes. And it is hideous. My cautionary reminder to anyone brave enough, or crazy enough, to wear these architectural sandals is: just because people are looking at you doesn’t mean it’s a good thing, when you are wearing feather puffs resembling a shaved poodle on your gold leaf, crocodile sandals, they may be gawking.
